Animated photo of my Grandad from WW2

I recently animated a photo of my Grandad from WW2. My Mother’s birthday is soon approaching and she will be 70 this time around, and she misses her father since he passed away in 2008. I decided a good gift would be an animated picture of him, like what i saw in the movie Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone.

My plan was to get a photo, and use MyHeritage’s Deep nostalgia app (remarkable technology for animating photos was licensed by MyHeritage from D-ID) that can be found here).

Then i grabbed the cropped video (cropped to the head) and applied it back onto his body on the original photo. Expanding outwards and using various techniques such as fill and replace with familiar textures, I filled out the image more in size and improved his beret on the footage. It was just a case of improving the footage with grading, and purchasing a digital photo frame that could loop and display the footage correctly. Once I had purchased the frame, I uploaded the video and it was all good to go.
